BSB40407 Certificate IV Small Business Management (Sustainable Business Practices)

The principle focus of this course is to blend sustainability concepts with traditional small business management skills. The course allows students to critically evaluate a new or existing small business and work on how the whole business can perform more efficiently towards its commercial and environmental obligations.

There is a strong emphasis on strategies for business and environment management. Besides traditional learning of budgets, general cash-flow analysis and basic business law, we also learn strategies for reducing environmental impact, improving chain supply management, resource management, marketing, and building competitive performance.
Upon completion, a student would be able to assess and analyse the performance of a small business, and consult on ways to improve business performance and its commitment to sustainable environmental practices.

This is NOT simply an 'auditing' course for conducting energy and utilities audits. The course allows the student to understand the totality of small business management in the framework of 'sustainability' and the business's commitment to social and environmental expectations.
Completing the course would be suitable for people wishing to start their own small business, irrelevant of what type, or allow people to consult to small business, or allow existing staff to manage a business more efficiently in today's competitive climate.
