22005VIC Course in Retrofitting Homes for Energy and Water Efficiency
This course will provide a background in sustainability and practical advice on the types of retrofitting that can be undertaken in residential properties with the primary intention of assisting households in reducing their daily impact on the environment. Retrofitting tasks in this context will include:
• replacing light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs
• sealing of draught and leakage points
• installation of windows coverings and treatments
• basic plumbing tasks.
Retrofitters who complete this course will not be engaged in building and construction work, and will not undertake tasks normally completed by a qualified tradesperson. However, it would strongly suit tradespeople who want to offer additional services, or representatives of companies operating in the green sector. Possible employment options include local councils, private companies, utility and maintenance companies.
