Outline

This course is designed for participants from local community and environment groups who would be undertaking basic home sustainability assessments under the direction of a host organisation. It would also be suitable for anyone undertaking basic home sustainability assessments.

Employment and training pathways from this Qualification

Volunteers who successfully complete the course will be able to plan a home visit, conduct a preliminary assessment of basic home energy use, water use and waste disposal practices and be able to advise householders of recommendations for savings on the basis of this assessment. Volunteers will be able to record the information and complete a report on the home visit under the direction of a host organisation. An example of a host organisation might be a local council or a community organisation. Successful participants may wish to extend their learning by enrolling into Course in retrofitting homes for energy and water efficiency (Accredited Course), or Certificate IV Home Sustainability Assessment.

Mode of Study and Assessment

The Course is a 10 hour program and is delivered at our training facility or at another designated location. Classes are held over 2 sessions of 5 hours each. Assessment is undertaken within these sessions and students will need to complete some assessment tasks outside of class hours. Assessment tasks involve verbal and written questions, simulated work activities and a work-place based project. The main assessment in this course involves completing a Home Sustainability Assessment on a home and presenting the findings in class.

Entry Requirments

This course is designed for participants who volunteer with local community and environment groups and who would be undertaking basic home sustainability assessments under the direction of a host organisation. There are no specific entry requirements or course pre-requisities. It is recommended that students have successfully complete Year 10 studies and have basic adult literacy and numeracy skills. All students wishing to enrol will be required to undertake a Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment

Recognition of Prior Learning

Green Business Audit & Training recognises the skills and knowledge you have gained
through formal and informal education and training, and work or life experience.  Students wishing to apply for RPL must do so upon enrolment and apply for RPL via our RPL Application Kit for this course, available from our offices. Students must first enrol in the course. Refer to our Fees Terms and Conditions Policy for associated fees.

Language Literacy and Numeracy

To ensure that you have an adequate Language Literacy and Numeracy levels to complete this qualification, we will conduct an LLN review as part of the pre-enrolment process.
