The Course is a 12 hour program and is delivered at our training facility. Classes are held over two days.

Outline

The Course in Sustainable Painting Practices aims to provide experienced painters,
decorators, contractors and existing workers the opportunity to upgrade their skills and knowledge for employment in the area of environmentally sustainable painting practices by promoting, developing and maintaining sustainable painting practices and environmental activities. With an increase in public awareness of sustainable painting practices, painters need to maintain a competitive advantage and keep up with consumer and industry demand of sustainable practices, products and features.

The course will allow a painter to undertake environmentally sustainable painting practices
which focus on the consumer and industry-specific needs.

Graduates will be able to:
 Research best practices
 Locate resources for the sustainable painting industry
 Develop and maintain business relationships and networks
 Manage response to consumer needs in preparation for work
 Evaluate sustainable painting work practices

The training course will address the following topics
 Sustainable painting practises and environmental management
 Environmental Management
 Ecolabels and Green Procurement
 Green Building Council Australia IEQ-13
 Sustainable Painting Products
 Workplace safety for painters (OHS).
 Ecolabels and Green Procurement
 Waste and recycling
 Business relationships
 Identifying best practises and resources for the sustainable painting industry

Entry Requirments

Participants enrolling in the Course in Sustainable Painting Practices  will hold:
• a trade qualification in painting and decorating eg Certificate III in Painting and Decorating
or
• vocational competencies equivalent to a painting trade qualification
or
• appropriate vocational competencies in a related design or construction field, which must include an underpinning knowledge of painting practices that when combined with
outcomes from this course, will enable participants to develop
environmental management plans for painters.

To be awarded the Course in Sustainable Painting Practices learners must successfully complete one unit of competency

VPAU802   Provide advice on sustainable painting practices: 12 hours

Entry Requirements

Nil. It is recommended that students have successfully complete Year 10 studies and
have basic adult literacy and numeracy skills. All students wishing to enrol will be
required to undertake a Language Literacy and Numeracy assessment

Training and Assessment

Training is conducted via class-room based face-to-face delivery. To be deemed
 competent in each unit of study in this course and be awarded the qualification, students
must complete all assessments satisfactorily.  Assessments will be undertaken in class,
In this course, assessment is completed by written question and answers and
practical demonstration in a simulated work environment.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Green Business Audit & Training recognises the skills and knowledge you have gained
through formal and informal education and training, and work or life experience.  
Students wishing to apply for RPL must do so upon enrolment and apply for RPL via our
RPL Application Kit for this course, available from our offices. Students must first enrol in the course. Refer to our Fees Terms and Conditions Policy for associated fees.

Language Literacy and Numeracy
To ensure that you have an adequate Language Literacy and Numeracy levels to complete
this qualification, we will conduct an LLN review as part of the pre-enrolment process.
